An interesting and fun day today, as didn’t have much work on at all. Until I got a message at 7:30am asking me if I had a white flower heart for hire. To which I asked, what date were you looking to hire, a pretty standard question, although I wasn’t quite ready for the response. Michelle, the lady who messaged, said 9:00am today!. This morning. lol.

Well im always up for a challenge, and as mentioned I didn’t have a lot on today, so I quickly agreed and shot out of bed and by 9:00am I was at the truly magnificent parish of st. James Church in Handsworth. Which id never visited before today, but what an absolute joy it’s been.

From the outside St James church doesn’t look like much, just a big old stone church, but once inside it’s truly amazing. With a fully carved marble water basin as you walk in, leading to enormous high stone columns either side of the pews reaching to the heavens, which leads you to the magnificent fully carved marble altar which sits beneath a 20-25ft stained glass window. It is truly breath taking & awe inspiring. The craftmanship and dedication of the men who built this masterpiece, is truly of a history long forgot.

I fear buildings or churches will never be built again with this much attention to detail and grandeur as the cost and skills just don’t exist anymore. If you’re ever in the area. I highly recommend you visit St James Church in Handsworth, it’s truly a hidden gem.

I just hope my 8ft white & ivory flower heart done the building some justice for Donna & Errol’s wedding today. I also transported the flower heart to their reception after the ceremony to be used as décor behind their top table. If you would like a similar service, where you use my décor for your ceremony and then have it transported to your reception, get in touch today.
